MGM
It is a famous theme park situated on ECR in Chennai.It consist of both water games and thrilling dry games.There is an amphitheatre that has variety of events.There is an artificial wave pool which gives real thrilling effect.There is an artificial man made waterfalls in the name of chinna kutrallam.MGM is having a well planted and secured car parking.The interesting rides are aqua slide,zipdip,tornado,chinna kutralam,reinder coaster,balloon rew.

CROCODILE PARK
It is the largest breeding site in the country.There are several species of african and indian crocodiles are bred here.There are also various alligators in the open pools.Morlets crocodile from Mexico,American Alligator,Dwarf crocodile and siamese are the rare varieties.It also consist of a snake farm where anti -venom is produced and venom extraction is conducted which attracts the crowds. The reptiles are kept in their natural habitat in open pools and can be viewed from safe proximity. This farm breeds crocodile to augment the crocodile population of the wildlife sanctuaries.
CHILDRENS PARK
The next interesting area is Guindy which covers three important places.1.Childrens park 2.Snake park 3.Planetarium. Childrens park and snake park are located near Cancer Institute.Childrens park is similar to a zoo.It consist of all animals in a cage.You can also see the birds.It will be very fun for the children as they have playing areas.This park boasts of over 24 varieties of trees, like the Amona Squamosa, Atlanta Monophylla, Feronia Limonia, Azadirachta India, and many others. There are also more than 14 varieties of shrubs, over 14 types of mammals like the antelope, spotted dear, jungle cat, Indian civet, the river otter, hyena, fox and the like. The park also accounts for a variety of birds, and some of them are the black winged kite, the buzzard, pariah kite, the eagle and so on. There are also many kinds of amphibians and snakes that add variety of the inmates that are housed here.
SNAKE PARK
It is adjacent to childrens park.In snake park we can see the different types of snakes, turtles, crocodiles,frogs etc..Huge varieties of snakes such as vine snake,cobra,python are found here.A snake show is conducted at a particular time.
PLANETARIUM
Planetarium is a wonderfull area where you can see the twinkling stars,shooting meteoroids,the rotating solar system.The show goes on in the night sky .It has 8 galleries on themes of physical science,transport,electronics and communication,energy,material science,life science,innovation,international dolls and children.There is a traffic park constructed with latest safety measures.The science and technology centre is open on all days except on national holidays from 10 am. to 5.45 pm.Timings for cosmic shows in the planetarium in english are 10.45am,1.45 pm and 3.45 pm.

MUTTUKADU
It is situated 36 km from Chennai,which is in east coast road.It is a back water location where water sports takes place in the month of feb.There is a boat house in Muttukadu.Boating and wind surfing are carried out here.
VEDANTHANGAL
It is one of the oldest water bird sanctuaries in India.It is located about 80 kms from chennai.It covers about 72 acres of land.This area consist of large number of small lakes which have attracted the birds to come here.Vedanthangal sanctuary serves as a nesting home for many species of water birds. Egrets, Grey Heron, Open-billed Stork, Darter, Spoonbill, White Ibis, Night Herons, Grebes, Grey Pelican, Dabchicks, Pintail ducks and Cormmorants are some of the breeding birds that visit the sanctuary.
Birds like Coots, Moorhen and Terns are some of the resident birds in this sanctuary. It is estimated that about 7000 birds are roosting here. Vedanthangal is one of the most spectacular breeding grounds for migratory birds in India. Some of the migratory birds travel thousands of miles all the way from Siberia to avoid the biting cold. Other migratory birds come from Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lankan countries.
This sanctuary is particularly known for migratory birds, including Garganey, Teals, Shovellers, Pintails, Stills and Sandpiper among others. The population of migratory birds will be estimated to around 40,000 in numbers. Breeding birds like the Cormorant, Egrets, Grey Heron, Open-billed Stork, Darter, Spoonbill, White Ibis, Night Herons, Grebes, and Grey Pelican visit the sanctuary each year. The population of migratory birds included Teals, Shovellers, Pintails, and Sandpipers etc. Some of the resident birds listed are Coots, Terns and Moorhen. In all 115 species of birds have been recorded in this sanctuary. The migratory birds nest in Vedanthangal sanctuary till February depending on the availability of water.
VANDALLUR ZOO
It is located 30 km from chennai city.It is the first public zoo in india.It is located on area of 1300 acres.Many varieties of deer,sambar,hog deer,blackbuck and many varieties of monkeys,wolf are there.It also has safari park and an aquarium.
THOUSAND LIGHTS MOSQUE
At the meeting point of Mount Road and Peters Road, stands one of the city's most important mosques. It is referred to as the Thousand Lights Mosque because of the legend that over one thousand lamps had to be used to light up the Assembly Hall which stood at this same spot. The Wall of the mosque contains quranic verses which has been printed on it.
VALLUVAR KOTTAM
The Valluvar Kottam, on the corner of Kodambakkam High road and Village Road, honours the acclaimed Tamil Poet, Thiruvalluvar, whose classic work, the Kural, is reputed to be about 2000 years old. Established in 1976, Valluvar Kottam replicates ancient Tamil architecture with the 1330 verse Kural inscribed on panels. The Valluvar Kottam open daily 8 am to 6 pm.
SRI PAARTHASAARATHY TEMPLE
This temple that dates back to the 8th century, is dedicated to Lord Krishna who took on the role of a charioteer (saarathy) to Arjuna also known as Partha. The temple houses five avatars (incarnations) of Lord Vishnu. Originally built by the Pallavas, the temple underwent several modifications across the centuries. At various times the French, the Dutch and the Golconda rulers occupied the temple as a battle imperative. This most important temple to Vishnu in Chennai, has a December festival that is a highlight in the Chennai events calendar.
KAPALESWARA TEMPLE
Temple Kapaleswara temple is situated at Mylapore in Chennai {Madras}. Its ornate gopuram tower is a riot of color, matched only by the vivid saris of worshippers at the three-hundred-year-old temple.
SANTHOME CATHEDRAL CHURCH
The Santhome Cathedral Church The Santhome Cathedral Church built in 1504, then rebuilt in neo-Gothic style in 1893, this Roman Catholic Church near Kapaleeshwarar temple is said to house the remains of St. Thomas the Apostle. St. Thomas Mount St.Thomas is believed to have lived in Little Mount Shrine (a tiny cave) when he came to India around 58 A.D. Known locally as Chinnamalai, the cave is entered via the Portuguese Church that was built in 1551.
GOVERNMENT MUSEUM
Government Museum Well worth visiting, the Government Museum is on Pantheon Rd, between Egmore and Anna Salai. The buildings originally belonged to a group of eminent British citizens, known as the Pantheon Committee, who were charged with improving the social life of the British in Chennai. The main building has a fine archaeological section representing all the major south Indian periods including Chola, Vijayanagar, Hoysala and Chalukya. It also houses a good ethnology collection. The bronze gallery has a superb collection of Chola art. One of the most impressive is the bronze of Ardhanariswara, the androgynous incarnation of Shiva.
THE NATIONAL ART GALLERY
The National Art Gallery situated in Egmore were established in 1857. There are sections on geology, archaeologym anthropology, numismatics, botany, zoology and sculpture, besides a collection of armoury. St. Mary's Church St. Mary's Church built in 1678-80, was the first English Church in Chennai, and is the oldest surviving British Church in India. There are reminders in the Church of Clive, who was married here in 1753, and of Elihu Yale, the early Governor of Chennai who later founded the famous American University bearing his name.
FORT St.GEORGE FORT
Fort St. George was built in the 1640 A.D., the first bastion of British power of India, the fort has undergone much alteration. The fort is now used by the Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly and the Secretariat office. The 46m high flagstaff at the front is actually a mast salvaged from a 17th century shipwreck.
